Unit Focus:
Students will focus on (1) how authors construct theme/characterization based on a wide array of texts with a primary focus on poetry, stories, and drama from diverse cultures and (2) how to compose a well-organized literary argument that cites strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis, uses precise language and domain-specific vocabulary to manage the complexity of the topic, establishes and maintains a formal style and objective tone, and uses varied transitions and sentence structures to create cohesion in the text.
